Cyrus D’Cruz, a well-known leader in People Strategy, has provided specialist advisory and delivery services for over 25 years. Cyrus is known for his deep partner-centric relationships and delivering client solutions that yield results, whether it be increasing productivity, driving growth, enhancing quality, maximizing value, or simply reducing costs.

Cyrus joins PeopleGig as Director, driving regional strategy and growth in Australia and New Zealand. His role aligns perfectly with Peoplegig's mission to empower, redefine, and innovate the offshore team-building landscape. Cyrus shares with us some of his aspirations, thoughts, and drivers for joining the business.

What motivated you to join Peoplegig?

Peoplegig’s solutions represent a key missing puzzle piece in People Strategy. After exploring and building offshoring solutions for clients and my own business over the last 25 years, it was clear that the reality of the solution rarely met the targeted goals for scalability, quality delivery, flexibility or cost savings. Building one’s own offshore team, is harder than it seems. Without genuine local leadership, it’s near impossible to scale, flex and deliver quality outcomes. On the other end of the spectrum, business process outsourcing (BPO) tends to be mechanical, awkward, disconnected and costly.

Peoplegig has created what’s been missing in creating and delivering business excellence, through offshoring, by being an extension of a business’s people strategy. Their "Design, Build, Manage" philosophy and hyper-care leadership team align with my personal mantra that any client solution must "deliver productivity, quality, and efficiency, while being readily scalable and flexible." I have known and worked with the Peoplegig founders in various capacities throughout my career and hold them in the highest regard, not only for their clear knowledge and capability, but also for their integrity, honesty, and genuine values alignment.

It feels more like a natural extension of our relationship than “joining them” to be honest. Peoplegig’s solution gives me a natural extension to the work I do with the industry around people solutions Most Australian and New Zealand organisations struggle to find the talent they need to deliver business. In my work with clients around organisational delivery, flexibility and scalability, the peoplegig solution provides me confidence to include offshore team building as a key initiative.

What do you bring to the table as the new Director at Peoplegig?

Apart from my outrageous sense of humor, sense of style and humility (haha), as a Director at Peoplegig, I bring significant local market knowledge and the ability to genuinely "think locally, while delivering globally." My expertise and Peoplegig's core values of Human-Centered, Trust & Relationships, and Passionate Innovation, make the connection seamless.

How do you see the future of talent acquisition and business solutions?

Over the years, the question of technology replacing people has always been a topic of discussion. When we look back at key technological milestones—such as the personal computer, the internet, email, mobile phones, Wi-Fi, cloud computing, robotics, and now AI—we see that they have indeed transformed the business landscape. These technologies have enhanced productivity and efficiency but have not eliminated the need for talent; rather, they have shifted the requirements.

A business's ability to compete, achieve excellence, and drive profitability and growth will always depend on people, regardless of the industry. The age-old phrase, "the war for talent," still holds true. However, the "war" now requires a different arsenal. Never before has a holistic and strategic approach to talent been so crucial. Victory will go to those most adaptable in equipping themselves with a people strategy that engages and brings out the best in people, whilst being flexible, scalable, and cost-effective.

How do you definite a strategic offshoring solution?

People strategy aims to strike a balance among four key priorities: quality, scalability, flexibility, and cost of human resources. Strategic offshoring fulfills all these criteria, making it an integral part of a viable people solution. From past experiences with Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) and building offshore teams, it's evident that achieving all elements of a people strategy is possible only with a strategic offshore partner. Such a partner must be capable and prepared to design, build, and manage your offshore team.
